Self Care First

Wellness consciousness is an intuitive knowing of our body's needs. This knowing can provide the guidance we need to begin the self-healing process in mind, body, and spirit.
Medicine serves a vital function in society, but it is not necessary for you to relinquish total control of your health care into someone else's hands. It is possible to know one's body well enough to take an active role in creating your own wellness and to communicate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals.
Many sources estimate that more than 75% of visits to doctors can be directly related to stress. Continual stress prevents the body's natural ability to repair and protect itself leading to chronic conditions like heart disease, digestive problems, respiratory problems, and depression.
Are you a person who always puts your needs at the bottom of the list? Caring for you is the best way to care for those you love and care about in life. Self Care involves choosing proactive strategies to improve and maintain your health and wellness.

This week when you write your “to do” list, make the first entry a self care activity.

Mine is to listen to my mindfulness meditation CD for 5 minutes every morning before I start my day.
